Why work at Hampstead School?
Hampstead School is Camden’s largest maintained comprehensive school, educating more than 1,300 students (including around 300 in our stand-alone Sixth Form). The school admits 7 forms of entry from over 70 primary schools. Founded in 1961 as a mixed comprehensive school, Hampstead School has remained firmly committed to inclusive and nurturing education; quality of relationships based on respect and responsibility underpins all our endeavours. This continues to be epitomised in our motto “Learning Together, Achieving Together”.
Reflecting our part of North West London, Hampstead School’s intake is predominantly from the local areas of Kilburn, West Hampstead, Cricklewood and Willesden. Our learners represent the diversity of our communities with over 70 languages spoken by our 50%+ bilingual students.
The School has been almost completely rebuilt over recent years with our modern inspiring facilities offering a vibrant and brilliantly equipped place to work and study.
Ofsted noted in 2023 that “Staff feel valued and are proud to work in the school. Staff benefit from regular ongoing training and development."
This is an exciting, dynamic place to work, and its vitality greatly benefits the pupils. Our equally diverse staff is well-supported and encouraged to achieve their career aspirations. They share their passion for learning and commitment to delivering outstanding education to our students through our Kaizen approach. Our commitment to Flexible Working
Hampstead School encourages staff to consider flexible working arrangements and recognises that a better work-life balance can improve employee motivation, performance and productivity, as well as reduce stress. Therefore the school wants to support its employees to achieve a better balance between work and their other priorities, such as caring responsibilities, leisure activities, further learning and other interests. We are committed to agreeing any flexible working arrangements, provided that the needs and objectives of both the organisation and the employee can be met. The school is also open to discussing flexible working arrangements with employees before their first day. Further details can be found in our Flexible Working policy.
