Dear Parents and Carers,
It is an exciting time at Hampstead School right now, this week saw Year 11 participate in a fantastic Futures Week Programme and also sees the early launch of the phone pouches.
Phone pouches launch
We are excited to announce the launch date for becoming a phone-free environment. The school will become phone-free on Tuesday 3rd December, with an early rollout for Year 7 on Friday 29th November. Here are the key points:
- Phone-Free Policy: Students will use lockable pouches for their phones, which will be secured at the start and end of each school day.
- No Cost to Parents: There will be no cost to you unless the pouch is damaged or lost.
This decision aligns with a growing trend among schools to ban mobile phones due to concerns about their impact on mental health and academic performance.
To ensure that this move is as seamless as possible. Please ensure:
- You can access StudyBugs to send messages to the school regarding appointments and attendance.
- You check ParentPay and ensure that it is topped up regularly.
Our goal is to create a phone-free space that enhances teaching, learning, and student wellbeing. This policy also applies to any internet-connected devices, including smartwatches. We believe this change is in the best interest of all our students and appreciate your full support.
Year 11 Futures Week
This week saw an exciting and enriching Futures Week for our Year 11 students, packed with inspiring sessions and valuable insights into potential career pathways. This week was designed specially to help our students explore various opportunities and make informed decisions about their futures. We were privileged to host a variety of speakers including:
- 20/20 Investment – where students learned about the exciting world of finance and investment.
- Middlesex University and King’s College London joined us to discuss higher education options, offering students a comprehensive understanding of the university experience, including the range of courses available and the opportunities offered at this level.
- Capital City College Group provided an overview of the courses available, the benefits of pursuing further education, and the support services offered to students.
- ASK Apprenticeships delivered a fantastic session, on the different apprenticeship routes available. They covered the benefits of apprenticeships, how to apply, and what to expect from these practical learning experiences.
- We were thrilled to have The Savoy join us to discuss careers in the hospitality industry. This session provided students with an inside look at working in a world-renowned hotel, highlighting the skills needed and the exciting opportunities within the hospitality sector.
Futures Week has been a fantastic opportunity for our Year 11 students to explore a wide range of career options and gain valuable insights to help shape their future pathways. We encourage parents and guardians to discuss these sessions with their children and support them in making the most of this informative week.
