Attendance

 ATTENDANCE INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

We expect students to be in school every day and on time.

Attendance at school is a legal requirement but more importantly we know there is a direct link between attendance and student attainment.

Our gates close at 08:35. Any students who arrive after the gates are closed will receive a late mark. Students who are late to school or class 5 or more times in a week will be required to attend a two-hour punctuality planning detention on a Thursday after school.

Request for Leave of Absence During Term Time

We ask our parents and carers to

Ensure their child attends every day the school is open except when a statutory reason applies.

Notify the school before 08:40 if their child has to be unexpectedly absent (e.g. sickness) using Studybugs.

Only request leave of absence in exceptional circumstances and do so in advance.

Book any medical appointments around the school day wherever possible.

We will

Have a clear school attendance policy on the school website which all staff, pupils and parents understand.

Develop and maintain a whole school culture that promotes the benefits of good attendance.

Accurately complete admission and attendance registers.

Have robust daily processes to follow-up absence.

Offer support to improve attendance.

Have a dedicated senior leader with overall responsibility for championing and improving attendance.

Our Governors will

Take an active role in attendance improvement, support our school to prioritise attendance, and work together with our leaders to set whole school cultures.

Ensure our school leaders fulfil expectations and statutory duties.

Ensure our school staff receive training on attendance.

How to use Studybugs

The Studybugs platform is easy to use and will guide you through the process when you create an account. If you are still unsure, please check out this Registration Example and the How To Guide.
