Careers Education & Inspiration in Key Stage 3

At KS3, our curriculum introduces the CDI Framework for careers and is constructed around its three main areas of career and work-related learning:

  • Self-development through careers and work-related education
  • Finding out about careers and the world of work
  • Developing skills for career wellbeing and employability

These objectives are met through a combination of dedicated lessons, collapsed timetable Enrichment Days, our whole school focussed Enterprise and Careers Weeks, University visits in Year 7, Progression Day in Year 9 and access to visiting professionals.

Any student in Key Stage 3 may request an appointment with Lindsay Evans our Independent Matrix Qualified Careers Advisor.

Every student is expected to complete an online portfolio of all the activities they complete that evidence their increasing employability.

Do you know what labour market information (LMI) is? Do you know how it can help you plan your career?

9. Learning about safe working practices and environments

Are you aware of the laws and by-laws relating to young people's permitted hours and types of employment? Do you know how to minimise the health and safety risks to you and those around you?

Do you know how to negotiate and make plans and decisions carefully to help you get the qualifications, skills and experience you need?

Can you show you can be positive, flexible and well-prepared at transition points in your life?

To deliver our aims we continue to develop a curriculum that embeds careers education information advice and guidance (CEIAG) whilst enriching students' lives with opportunities that reach beyond the classroom and into the wider global community.
